This painting celebrates the contributions of American female soldiers to World Peace and American Freedom during WW2. There were more than 6000 black women in the Army during WW2, the Six Triple Eight were the only ones to serve in Europe. By 1946, the remainder of the unit returned to the United States and was disbanded at Fort Dix, New Jersey, without further ceremony. There were no parades, no public appreciation, and no official recognition of their accomplishments.
